On 11 September 2024, the School of Professional and Executive Education Development (SPEED) at Asia e University was invited to engage in the inaugural Trade and Export Talk (TEX Talk) during the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agrotourism Show (MAHA 2024), showcasing its commitment to advancing sustainable farming practices.
Philip Lim, Head of SPEED, delivered an engaging presentation titled "IPM Certification and Knowledge for Empowering Farmers: Achieving Cost-Effective Farming through IPM." He introduced Malaysia’s first holistic IPM Certification Programme, a pioneering initiative designed to equip farmers with vital skills and knowledge in holistic Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and to certify them as Certified IPM Farm Practitioners.
Following the presentation, R.M. Ravichandar, Group CEO of ABS Greentech and a strategic partner of SPEED, underscored the critical role of IPM in improving farm productivity and fostering environmental sustainability. He emphasized how ABS Greentech’s holistic IPM approach helps farmers lower costs while increasing efficiency and ensuring food security, positioning IPM as a cornerstone for sustainable agriculture.
A key highlight of the event was the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SPEED and ABS Greentech. This partnership marks a pivotal step in promoting training and certification in IPM practices for farmers. The certification programme is set to officially launch during the upcoming Asia Smart Farming and Food Security Conference (ASF 2024) in November, further solidifying SPEED's role in empowering the agricultural community through education and training.
